Clothing
Lightweight, neutral colours (khaki, olive, tan, brown, grey). Long-sleeved shirts/trousers. Warm fleece or jacket. Rain/windproof jacket.

Avoid bright colours (red, white, yellow) which can startle animals or attract tsetse flies. Long sleeves protect from sun and mosquitoes. Dress in layers for cool mornings/evenings.

Comfortable, sturdy walking/hiking boots (especially for trekking). Lightweight sandals/flip-flops for the lodge.
Boots are essential for Gorilla/Chimp trekking. Break them in before your trip!

Prescription anti-malarials. High-SPF Sunscreen & Lip balm. Insect Repellent (with DEET). Basic First Aid Kit (painkillers, anti-diarrhoea, antihistamines). Personal medications (in original packaging).
Sun protection is critical at high altitudes. DEET is the most effective repellent.
Equipment
High-quality Binoculars (one pair per person is highly recommended). Camera with extra batteries/power bank. Universal travel adapter (UK 3-pin plug is common). Headlamp/small flashlight.

Miscellaneous
